Sir Reality…

He whispers through my dreams….

He paints pictures of future happiness and joy…

He molds each new vision carefully to show me just enough to elicit hope…

Never enough for illumination….

He whispers…”The time has come sweet child…you must gather your past pieces and pack them up…store them in your heart and your soul….

for now it is time for the beginning of the next chapter of your life.”

He takes my hand in his…warm and secure…

walking confidently to the future…

I feel comforted by his presence…his words….his guidance…I am not afraid.

We stop walking…..

I turn to him and look into his eyes questioningly…”Are we here?”

He answers softly…”Yes .”

He kisses my hand, releases it and begins to walk away.

“Wait…”

The fear of the unknown bearing down on me suddenly….

”What am I supposed to do now?”

He smiles a knowing smile which inconceivably puts me at ease once more.

“Now my sweet child…

You’ve left the past in the past….this is your future…go…live it….

shine brightly for you are loved.”

  1. Wow. What a way to say goodbye to the past. Magnificent post Christina.

Living in the past is all well and good, but it will never bring you the happiness you deserve. You can stay there your whole life looking at what “may have been” what “could have been” or what “should have been” but the past is gone, the future is unknown and the present is now. The “now” is a gift, that is why it is why it is called the “present”. I’m not saying don’t look to the future, I’m saying live for today, each day as it comes.

Oh … I just looked at that image again. How fitting!! The man is walking away. Did you make that from the image or was it a perfect find?

Again, well done on a fantastic post

    • Thank you so much!! Great advice, take each day as it comes! I loved this image…knew it was perfect when I saw it…it is as the artist intended I didn’t change anything. 🙂 Thanks again sweet friend…Hugs ~

      • You’re welcome 🙂

I find it amazing that you manage to find pictures that fit your poetry so well. When I look, I never find any that come close. But I digress. You disappear for a few days and then come back with a masterpiece like this. I don’t know what your inspiration is, but it works 🙂

  6. I love it 🙂 Those are beautiful words, very emotive. As you know, moving on to the future does not necessarily mean completely letting go of the past – only that you’re ready to begin the next phase of your life. It will be different… you’ll always have the past, you’ll always have those memories and they should be treasured… but the future will bring you new memories and, as someone going through a divorce, I can relate (to some extent) because moving on and accepting that change can be daunting and a little scary.

As for love… that too will be different… but when you’re ready, he’ll be waiting… and like your poem, I’m sure he’ll be patient and understanding but always there for you… I wish you nothing but love and happiness my friend 🙂

  7. This is a lovely post, beautifully said and I agree with Alastair, live for the moment, don’t look to much to the future and the past is gone, only think of the good memories. Other wise past is past and cannot be changed. (Well that is how I see it) We should live every day fully and conciously, enjoying every moment as every moment becomes history. I love your picture which goes beautifully with it! Perfect!

    • Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed this and yes I totally agree with you and Alastair!! One can only live in the moment at hand…my favorite saying it “It’s not about how much time you have, it’s the moments you fill it with”. Thank you for your sharing your wise and thoughtful comment…I loved this picture too!! 😀

Never forget, for he will always be a part of you, but don’t live your life looking back all the time if you can.
I’ve spent the last 18 months doing that, full of what if;s and if only’s..
Slowly slowly, the dark hole is opening up and you are emerging back in to the world.
Life is precious, as you know it can be taken away in a blink, I really hope you can find happiness again, it would be fantastic news!
” shine brightly for you are loved ” .. this gets better each time I read it 🙂
With all my very best wishes for your happiness dear Christina

      • Hej Christina!

I’m glad to hear that you had a great time with your loved ones for Christmas. So did I with mine, thank you!

According to the time I see on your reply my New year probably started six hours earlier than yours. Have a good one, too and I hope you had a happy transition between the years, as well.

Don’t worry about the time when you post about the award, if you choose so. It is the right time when it feels right for you. No sooner and no later. 🙂

        Much love!
