Edge of Peripheral…

Peripheral

I can almost see you…

I know I don’t know you…

Simultaneously, I know everything about you…

You are in my dreams…

In my thoughts…

We meet there occasionally…

There is the known and unknown…

That magical seductive dance that ignites my imagination…

Recognition….

There you are…

Waiting for me…

On the edge of peripheral…

I thought it would be fun to bring the now infamous weekly event known as “#TBT or “Throwback Thursday” to my blog. I originally posted this poem in January 2013 not knowing then that writing fictional/fantasy poems would one day become my ‘Dreamscape’. I have had so much fun writing…creating this imaginary world’s height, width, breadth, and depth with each new piece added to its borders.

{I did make some aesthetic changes to this current post; however, I kept the same photo and made no changes to the words except for spaces between them.}

This was originally one of a series of four poems that went together, posted one after the other within a few days of each other. I am hopeful to recreate that feeling by publishing the follow-up posts a few days apart in the next few days ending with next Thursday…to complete the fun of Throwback Thursday’s.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look back into Reconstructing Christina’s past post as much as I did…to see, in essence, where my Dreamscape began. It has been my immense honor and constant encouragement to have you all either with me since then or to have joined my journey along the way….either way….

Thank you…ever so much!

  2. Oh you are in my dreams as well… “Take me as I am” and of course “intoxicating indulgence” all poems that come flashing back to me so often. Why? ’cause those two I have in a favourite file to be able to go back to when I need some mental warmth… this one will join those two…

    • You, dear friend, have rendered me so surprised in the very most magnificent way, that you have favorites…of mine! Words are failing me to express how much that means to me, sincerely…you’ve given me a most cherished gift and I thank you…again….and again—because saying it just once wouldn’t be enough!

  3. Such a beautiful poem. I remember this one, as it stuck in my memory, along with the other three. I am glad you are going back to these and I am looking forward to seeing the other three as well.

What you have done with the four poems amazed me then and it still amazes me now, over a year later. How you managed to get four to work together is a wonder and it showed then how you were coming on in leaps and bounds as a poet and you haven’t stopped since then.

I love the idea of revisiting older posts. Thank you for sharing these with us again.

      • You’re welcome 🙂 I think when you do eventually get your book done, these should be placed in different locations throughout.

Going back and showing these off, is like a “previously on Reconstructing Christina ~” before a leap into the future. I look forward to what comes next

  4. A lot had passed since I first read this awesome piece of word pie. In fact it is the poem that hooked me like a fish that was made for your dinner. I think your Dreamscape has become something awesome and I have enjoyed watching it grow and I have many a time mused upon the places it will go as well.

But onto the poem, I love the feeling of the almost tangible, the almost grasped, known and yet not. It is one of hope and one that I still learn from and I look forward to more blasts from the past because they are as much of a treat as your new word treats.

    • A lot has passed indeed! Wherever would I be without your charming metaphors? Your encouragement and praise means more than I can say—I have tried searching for the perfect words to do so, but they are not to be found…yet. It makes me proper happy that you love the Dreamscape…that my words could have such an affecting way.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, insight, and encouragement for more blasts from the past. I am well cheered that everyone seems to be enjoying this foray. As per usual, your descriptions of this piece were wondrous, magical, and so very cherished. Thank you…ever so much…and then again…
