Enigma…

~*~

~*~

There on a path to future lies converging trails…

One reminds me of better days long gone…

One leads to the promise of future…

~*~

I sit…think…ponder…

Why does one necessarily negate the other?

Conflicted confusion…

~*~

The future is hope, risk, love, heartbreak, having, losing…

As is life in all of its ups, downs and all arounds…

Tumultuous emotions wash over me as I wonder which path…

All the while knowing, as I always have, that life moves in one direction…

~*~

I cry silent hidden tears as the truth permeates me…

Time moves in one direction…

Always to the future…

Never to past…

I know this and yet…

It feels as though letting go of the past means it truly is gone…

~*~

Two paths converge into one…

I know I must take the one to the future, because that is the way of life…

Always moving forward despite anyone or anything…

Time is an enigma which marches on irreverent of feeling…

Void of thought or emotion…

We choose to move with it or forever be trapped in the loneliness of the black void…

I will no longer be trapped in the void…

~*~

Sweet encouraging voices beckon me to life, irregardless of the risk I know it brings…

I follow time’s path because of hope that will wash away melancholy…

I take the leap of faith..

Knowing only one thing for sure…

Time marches ever forward and now I am its companion…

One step…

Here I go…

  1. Letting go of the past doesn’t mean it is truly gone, Christina. It means you now have it tucked it safely away where you can access it at any time you wish.

This poem is Fantastic 🙂 You have surpassed yourself again

  4. How beautiful! The whole subject of “passing time” often makes me melancholy … it goes SO fast. Kids grow up SO fast. Life goes by SO fast. I’d love to have a button to slow things down. Great poem… thoughtful and beautiful. 🙂

  5. I agree with your mother, I believe this is your best work yet. You have such a tremendous ability to pull such raw emotions from the depths and present them so beautifully. Your pain is clearly felt but there is a hopefulness that springs forth as well. Cherish those memories as you forge your path forward and have a blessed day Christina. 🙂

And I have no idea where those quotes are coming from. You have to give me a hint on that one. I know its not from any of the movies we talked about…

Then I have homework for you…..or a mission rather – should you choose to accept it :p – 2 movies….if you haven’t seen them, it is a moral imperative that you do….1) The Princess Bride – because it’s funny!! 2) Undercover Blues – and yes there will be a test. Just kidding about the test, but I think I know what kind of humor you like and know you will laugh…. So will you accept the mission? 😉

Infact, its my wife’s favorite movie, she made me watch it with her. Only thing I remember is Mr. Andre the Giant…lol. I’ve never seen Undercover Blues, but I’ll be looking out for it on netflix and hulu, while I’m still under the free 30day period…lol. In other words, I ACCEPT your ‘Don’t click the sale page this time’ mission

  6. Beautiful words, Christina – full of hope 🙂 For what it’s worth, I don’t think we can – or should – ever let go of the past. It is, after all, a significant part of who we are. You only have to look at my own blog, which was originally completely based upon the past, to see how fundamental it is to our being.

I’d even go so far as to say that I think the key to the future lies in the past… we have to take the best of our memories and carry them with us. Those memories can be a source of comfort and inspiration, maybe even a template for dreams to come.

We also have to look at what went wrong and see how we can learn from those lessons… how can we improve ourselves? This is a very difficult lesson for me, to be honest… I find it hard to distinguish when I am truly to blame for something from when others *think* that I am to blame…

But you don’t have to give up the past… you should always keep those memories alive… love, honour and cherish them… resolve to make your life better as a result…

…anyway… I’m rambling… this is what happens when I reply to posts after 2 hours of solid sleep in 2 days LOL

    • Richard, thank you for sharing your thoughts…really do appreciate them. Yes we must always remember the lessons learned and cherish the memories. But the sad truth of losing somone you love is letting go….in order to move forward. You cannot live in the past….I guess that’s where the inspiration for this came from.

Thanks for your sweet thoughts and encouragement 🙂

  7. my good friend is taking the plunge 🙂 you are right in saying that the future will be your way of life. if we have learned enough from the past, then every step we take towards the future won’t be leaps of faith but rather a pursuit of our aspirations. very wise choice! wishing you all the best! 🙂

Your poem reflects many faces of life — you have beautifully revealed the masked ones too, which we so often ignore seeing, in the mirror of truth.
    Beautiful piece of writing !
